Mantra Monday XXX: Good Vibes Only — Except Not

Author: Joe Lizz

What is life when it’s all sunshine and unicorns farting rainbows? After a while, it’s boring and unproductive to our overall well-being and personal development.

The idea that good vibes are the only vibes could actually be promoting poor mental wellness, superficiality, and struggling relationships in our own lives.

Ultimately allowing bad vibes to take root without us even realizing they’re there to benefit from.

“Good vibes only” perpetuates denial and is a weak attempt to promote a candy-coated perfect life that none of us are living.

Life is hard, and challenging, and it challenges us to make better versions of ourselves.

When we maintain a false sense of perfection by claiming we only allow good vibes into our lives, even knowing that’s false, we brush things under the rug that we should be facing head on.

Face your life as it comes to you, both the good and the bad. If you live in this way, you can ground deeper in gratitude and gain a greater appreciation for the times in which you are blissing on good vibes.

Your life is not permanent. The more we overcome the bad instead of brushing it off, the more time we have to truly appreciate the good. Make the best out of the life you lead.

I am all about the good vibes life. I love sunshine and rainbows, relaxing days spent in my hammock, and spending time with my family. I love smiling more than crying and laughing more than being angry. But I also know that it’s important for our growth to also grow through our struggles. To hurt and experience anger, and sometimes cry.

So while we fill our community with the vibes we want to radiate ourselves, we also need the bad experiences in life to challenge us to push ourselves.
