Mantra Monday XIV: Be Happy Just for the Sake of Happiness

Author: Joe Lizz There are a lot of moments in life that make us happy: falling in love, weddings, babies, cute puppies, delicious food when we are “hangry.” But what if we were happy for the sake of happiness — if we made a conscious choice to choose happiness even on the days when nothing seems to be going well?   Every day, we choose to allow energy into our life in one of two ways:   First, we actively choose to welcome or reject the energy.  We choose to end a friendship because it’s toxic or start a new relationship because it makes our soul happy. Second, in situations when we can’t choose to accept or reject energy, we can still choose how...

Gratitude Friday XI: Our Story

A few weeks ago, we were interviewed for an article about the growing presence of CBD in Asheville businesses by our local paper, The Citizen Times. We are glad to have had this opportunity to share the value of CBD, the science behind CBD, and our mission of empowerment with the local community. Conducting this interview was also a valuable reminder of our story — where we came from, where we are now, and where we are going.   We are tremendously grateful for the ways in which Blue Ridge Hemp Co. has developed and the steps we took to get here. Today, we want to celebrate #gratitudefriday by sharing with you the story of our company.   As BRHC has grown and...

Mantra Monday XIII: Lessons from Childhood are Lessons for Life

Author: Joe Lizz I am extraordinarily grateful for my mother. Growing up, my dad worked every shift he could, every day of the week he could, so that my mother could stay home and raise me and my siblings. She was, and still is, one of the most positive influences in my life. I can’t thank her enough for all that she sacrificed for me. When I grew up, we didn’t have cell phones or social media. We didn’t own a laptop, or even a desktop computer (go ahead and google that, I’ll wait — #throwback) until I was in middle school. We had to pick up the phone and call someone to talk to them or pick up a pen and paper...

Gratitude Friday X: Thank You Rather Than Sorry

Authors: Will Oseroff and Danielle Schoen In my life, having a positive mindset has been the key to having a positive life, and the way that you speak has so much to do with your mindset.    By going into conversations with others with a negative mindset and speaking negatively, you set yourself up for negative conversations and relationships. That’s a challenging way to live your life. However, when you speak to others in positive ways, you can set the tone for a positive conversation and relationships for yourself and the other person.   I haven’t always lived this way. In the past, I was pessimistic, but I kept it to myself. I thought that there wasn’t any harm in thinking negative thoughts...

Mantra Monday XII: Lack of Motivation Can Be Motivating

Author: Joe Lizz I’m going to be honest: I had a really hard time writing this particular Mantra Monday blog post.   I’ve been sick on and off all week and my motivation to do anything more than lay in bed has been nonexistent and I waited until almost the last possible minute to sit down and write this up.  Instead of dragging my feet longer and making up more excuses, I decided to use my lack of motivation as the topic for this week: finding motivation within my lack of motivation, so to speak.   We all have those days — that sometimes turn into a week — where we feel unmotivated and uninspired. Whether it’s at work, in our personal lives, or as a...
